THE MICRONUTRIENT COMPOSITION OF CROCUS SATIVUS L. AND ITS CORRELATIONS BASED ON STATISTICAL ANALYSIS
نویسندگان
چکیده
This work focused on determining the micronutrient status of Crocus sativus L.stigmas with studying different correlations between physical-chemical compounds (moisture, minerals, ash, total phenolic content, carotenoids, zeaxanthin, vitamins and antioxidant activity). The mineral composition (Na, K, Ca, Mg, P, Fe, Cu, Mn, Zn, Mo B) was analyzed by ICP-OES (Inductively Coupled Plasma - Optical Emission Spectroscopy). carotenoids DPPH activity were evaluated using UV-Vis spectrophotometer. retention times vitamin E B9 molecules as well their contents in saffron stigmas determined UHPLC respectively (11.473 min, 15.561 ppm), (4.588 1.048 ppm) (3.977 103.382 ppm). obtained phenolics value 9.51 ± 1.10mg GAE/g dry weight (DW) for 28.53 2.27 mg β-carotene /g DW. Positive (p < 0.05) noted moisture-calcium, molybdenum-magnesium, manganese-potassium, manganese-phosphorus, boron-calcium, copper-iron,total phenolic-antioxidant carotenoids-zeaxanthin. However, negative found moisture-sodium, ash-carbon, calcium-sodium boron-sodium. No significant correlationswere observed ash-total phenolic, ash-carotenoids,ash-vitamin ash-vitamin B9.

AFLP and MS-AFLP Analysis of the Variation within Saffron Crocus (Crocus sativus L.) Germplasm
The presence and extent of genetic variation in saffron crocus are still debated, as testified by several contradictory articles providing contrasting results about the monomorphism or less of the species. Remarkably, phenotypic variations have been frequently observed in the field, such variations are usually unstable and can change from one growing season to another. Considering that gene exp...
متن کاملThe Effect of Crocus sativus L. and Its Constituents on Memory: Basic Studies and Clinical Applications
Memory-related disorders are a common public health issue. Memory impairment is frequent in degenerative diseases (such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson disease), cerebral injuries, and schizophrenia. The dried stigma of the plant Crocus sativus L. (C. sativus), commonly known as saffron, is used in folk medicine for various purposes. Several lines of evidence suggest that C. sativus and it...
متن کاملCrocus sativus L.: A comprehensive review
Crocus sativus L. belonging to the family Iridaceae (syn - kesar) comprises the dried red stigma and is widely cultivated in Iran and other countries such as India and Greece. Saffron contains more than 150 volatile and aroma-yielding compounds mainly terpenes, terpene alcohol, and their esters. The bitter taste and an iodoform or hay-like fragrance are caused by chemicals picrocrocin and safra...
متن کاملCloning, structural characterization, and phylogenetic analysis of flower MADS-box genes from crocus (Crocus sativus L.).
Crocus (Crocus sativus L.) is a crop species cultivated for its flowers and, more specifically, for its red stigmas. The flower of crocus is bisexual and sterile, since crocus is a triploid species. Its perianth consists of six petaloid tepals: three tepals in whorl 1 (outer tepals) and three tepals in whorl 2 (inner tepals). The androecium consists of three distinct stamens and the gynoecium c...
متن کاملCancer chemopreventive and tumoricidal properties of saffron (Crocus sativus L.).
Since cancer is the most common cause of death in the world population, the possibility that readily available natural substances from plants, vegetables, herbs, and spices may be beneficial in the prevention of cancer warrants closer examination. Saffron in filaments is the dried, dark red stigmata of Crocus sativus L. flowers and it is used as a spice, food colorant, and a drug in medicine. A...
